Role Overview
As the Resilience Officer, you will be responsible for managing Surge Africa’s Resilience workstream, an area that focuses on landscape governance, climate adaptation and sustainable development.
Responsibilities:
Lead, manage and expand Surge Africa’s Resilience program and its related projects.
Manage consultants and sub-staff that support the Resileince workstream, including support with research and program development, stakeholder engagement, hosting in-person events and virtual sessions etc.
Develop new programs to support the strategic direction of the organization, and manage existing programs, projects and initiatives as it relates to the resilience workstream.
Formulate, organize and monitor inter-connected projects, and coordinate cross-project activities within the organisation.
Track progress of the program, develop reports and evaluation assessments
Build and manage relationships with partners and represent the organization as it relates to the work area.
Propose ideas that promotes the program through media and strategic comms.
Manage budgets and track expenses as it relates to the Resilience workstream
Qualifications:
3 years or more working experience in adaptation and sustainability projects with specific focus on food system, landscape restoration, and urban development in the climate space.
Well-versed in issues around migration, livelihood development, climate finance, adaptation, and reasonable knowledge of climate security.
Reasonable knowledge of local and international climate policies and decrees.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, public speaking and stakeholder management skills
Effective skill in developing and executing both in-person engagements and online events
A creative thinker and doer that showcases thought leadership and innovation in program delivery
Competency in digital software and virtual workspaces
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
