Role Overview
As the Policy Officer, you will be responsible for managing Surge Africa’s Policy workstream, an area that focuses on Policy & Governance, Finance & Energy, Adaptation, and Climate Security. This role is fully remote.
Responsibilities:
Curate and design content that aligns with the organisation’s programs as it relates to social media, press-release and newsletters, blog and interviews etc
Managing content calendars and distribution channels.
Analyzing content performance using metrics like page views, engagement, and conversion rates.
Create and oversee the creation of graphics, video and compelling multimedia contents tailored specifically for external dissemination platform to promote the org’s outputs
Managing the social media team and supervising content outputs to industry standards.
Staying abreast of updates and trends in the climate space to inform quality content creation and management.
Oversee the creation of social media toolkits for programs and events hosted by the organisation.
Qualifications:
At least four years in an editorial management function, content management, social media management and public relations preferably within the CSO and Climate space.
Comfortable finding creative ways of building an online presence, as well as using analytics to create, implement and drive content strategies that help build organisational reputations and raise their profile as thought leaders within their fields
Strong skills in creating original content that targets a specific audience and meets Surge Africa’s objectives.
A proven ability for multimedia storytelling and managing team members in content, graphics and video creation.
A strong working knowledge of graphic design and editing software such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
Strong video and picture editing skills using software such as Adobe Premiere and Inshot.
A thorough understanding of digital production pipelines that help you oversee and improve the development of blogs, graphics, design, video, podcasts and written communications including long and short-form copy.
Adept at keyword placement and SEO best practices.
Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
