A New Look for Surge Africa Rooted in Purpose, Resilience and Symbiosis

We are beyond thrilled to announce a new look to Surge Africa’s impact driven journey. We took a new path rooted in our thinking, belief and programme approach in pursuing justice, inclusion and equality, communities and regions most affected by the multidimensional effect of climate change in Africa and the broader Global South. Instead of a traditional logo, we embodied an illustration to reflect the multifaceted work we do.

We wanted to infuse our brand with a human touch. This dynamic illustration goes beyond just visuals; it fosters a connection with our existing supporters and welcomes those who haven't yet discovered Surge Africa's work. This design reflects Surge Africa's unwavering commitment to creating more innovative and impactful change in Africa through our climate programmes.

An Emblem of Interconnectedness

Our new look is weaved with powerful symbols, each possessing meanings that are part of the whole:

  • The Earth: This represents our resilient home, the foundation for all life, surviving for millenia.

  • The Tree: This signifies the vital relationship between humanity, nature, and the planet's well-being.

  • The Sun and Rays: These embody the energy that fuels life and our pursuit of a sustainable future.

  • The Wave: This symbol represents the ocean, a vital part of our interconnected ecosystem.

  • The Human Figure: This represents life on earth and how nature reinforces our survival.

We created illustrative brand identities that speak to our multifaceted work across policy, resilience and media, underscoring our passion for developing innovative and impactful change through our climate programs in Africa and the broader Global South. The red symbolizes our policy focus, the orange our resilience focus and the white and blue, our media focus.

Our work remains guided by principles rooted in local struggles, amplifying policy and diplomacy with data and research, network and alliance building and intersection cross systems, people and regions. We welcome you to journey with us as we scale up our climate impact for a sustainable future.
